The 2022 Platinum Jubilee Weekend

In February 2022, Queen Elizabeth II became the first British monarch to reach a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years on the throne. The celebrations peaked with the Platinum Jubilee Weekend from 2 to 5 June 2022, an extended four-day bank holiday filled with Trooping the Colour, the lighting of beacons, the Platinum Jubilee Pageant and thousands of street parties up and down the country.

One of the most memorable moments of the weekend came at the Platinum Party at the Palace, when the Queen appeared in a much-loved short film taking tea with Paddington Bear – and revealed that she, too, kept a marmalade sandwich in her handbag. Just a few months later, in September 2022, the Queen passed away, making the Platinum Jubilee the final great celebration of her reign.
