About This Lesley Groves Still Life Painting

The use of rich, expressive colour is particularly effective in this work, with the vivid blue and turquoise pottery contrasting beautifully against the warmer amber and brown tones of the surrounding setting. The result is a distinctive and visually engaging still life with plenty of character.

The painting is signed by Lesley Groves on the front and will be supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity, providing provenance and confirming the artwork as an original piece by the artist. For a buyer, that certificate is a useful document to keep with the painting, as it stays with the work if it is ever passed on.

The Appeal of Still Life Painting

Still life is one of the longest established subjects in Western art, focusing on everyday objects such as jugs, bowls, fruit and flowers. Freed from the demands of a portrait or landscape, the artist can concentrate on shape, colour and the way objects sit together. Ceramic vessels have long been a favourite subject for this reason, and in this Lesley Groves still life painting the rounded forms of the pottery give the bright colours plenty of room to work.

Acrylic on Stretched Canvas

This Lesley Groves still life painting has been created using acrylic paints on stretched canvas and features painted edges, giving it a clean and contemporary finish. Acrylic suits this bold style of painting well, as it holds strong colour and visible brushwork. The canvas can therefore be displayed without a traditional frame and is ready to hang directly.

Displaying and Gifting

A colourful and distinctive original artwork, ‘Lovely Jugs’ would make an attractive addition to a contemporary interior and is an excellent opportunity to acquire an original work by Lesley Groves. At 12 x 10 inches, this Lesley Groves still life painting is a practical size for a hallway, kitchen, study or bedroom wall, or for grouping with other small pictures. It would also make a thoughtful gift for an art lover or anyone who collects pottery and ceramics, and for a housewarming or special birthday.

Caring for Your Painting

Hang your Lesley Groves still life painting away from direct sunlight, radiators and damp areas such as bathrooms, as strong light and changes in temperature can affect a canvas over time. Dust gently with a soft, dry brush or cloth, and avoid using water or cleaning products on the painted surface. Keep the Certificate of Authenticity somewhere safe.
