Nathan Brothers Silver Locket Pendant – Birmingham 1978
This elegant vintage sterling Nathan Brothers silver locket pendant is a beautifully detailed example of traditional British silver craftsmanship, hallmarked Birmingham 1978.
The front features an intricate engraved floral and foliate design, with graceful scrolling leaves and fine decorative detailing creating an attractive textured appearance. The oval form and ornate decoration give the locket a timeless character, while the polished silver highlights the detail beautifully.
The locket opens to reveal two internal photograph compartments, providing space for treasured photographs or sentimental keepsakes. This gives the piece an especially personal quality and makes it a wonderful choice either for a vintage jewellery collection or as a meaningful gift.
Condition
Presented in good vintage condition, the locket displays only light signs of previous use. Please note there is a slight gap along the bottom edge when the locket is closed. Despite this, it opens and closes securely and functions as intended. This point has been reflected in the condition description.

About This Nathan Brothers Silver Locket
A spray of leaves rises from the base of the oval, spreading out across the front in sweeping curves, and a fine beaded edge frames the engraving. The back is left plain and smooth, so it could be personalised with a name, a date or initials. The side hinge opens to reveal two oval compartments with blue backings, ready for your own photographs.
A Birmingham Hallmark
This Nathan Brothers silver locket was assayed at the Birmingham Assay Office, which opened in 1773 and uses an anchor as its traditional town mark. The city’s Jewellery Quarter has been the heart of the British jewellery trade for generations. A full set of hallmarks shows who made a piece, where it was tested and the year it was marked, so you know that this locket dates from 1978.
A Gift With a Personal Touch
Few pieces of jewellery are as personal as a locket. With a favourite photograph inside, a Nathan Brothers silver locket would make a treasured gift for a mother, a grandmother or a partner. It would also be a meaningful present for someone born in 1978, or a thoughtful way to mark a wedding, a christening or an anniversary.

Caring for Your Silver Locket
Clean the outside of your Nathan Brothers silver locket gently with a soft silver polishing cloth, following the lines of the engraving. Keep it away from water, perfume and hand cream, as moisture can damage any photographs inside. Take it off before swimming or bathing, and store it in a dry pouch or box, away from damp, to help slow tarnishing.
