About These Liberty of London Cufflinks
Each square cufflink frames a panel of the fabric in pink, teal and cream tones on a deep blue ground, set within a smooth, polished surround. A swivel bar fitting at the back makes them easy to fasten. The navy box, stamped with the Liberty name in gold, is lined with the same style of print inside the lid, so these Liberty of London cufflinks are ready to give as a gift.
The Story of the Ianthe Print
Ianthe is one of Liberty’s best known Art Nouveau designs. According to Liberty, it began as a wallpaper border by the French artist René Beauclair around 1902. It was first printed for Liberty in 1967, during a revival of interest in Art Nouveau, and later joined the Tana Lawn classics. Its curling lines and delicate flowers show why the style is still known in Italy as “Stile Liberty”.
About Liberty of London
Liberty was founded in 1875 by Arthur Lasenby Liberty on Regent Street, and it remains one of London’s most famous stores. Its timber-framed Tudor revival building and colourful printed fabrics are instantly recognisable. Tana Lawn, the fine cotton used here, is one of the brand’s most celebrated fabrics, which adds to the appeal of a pair of Liberty of London cufflinks.
A Stylish Gift
These cufflinks would make a smart gift for a wedding, a birthday, Father’s Day or a retirement, and they would suit anyone who enjoys pattern and colour in their wardrobe. Worn with a plain white or pale blue shirt, the print adds just the right amount of personality.
Caring for Your Cufflinks
Wipe the metal gently with a soft, dry cloth, and take care not to rub the fabric panels. Keep your Liberty of London cufflinks away from water, aftershave and cleaning products, which can mark the cotton and dull the silver plate. Avoid silver dips and polishes, as these can wear away the plating, and store them in their original box.
